Got some time off? We round up our favourite things to do in the Cotswolds this Christmas season:

  1. Travel round the villages at night-time having a look at the lights and trees in the windows
  2. Visit Christmas markets – almost everywhere has them
  3. Have a festive lunch with family and friends, before the big day
  4. See a Christmas show or pantomime in Cheltenham, Tewkesbury or Gloucester
  5. Head to the horse racing at Cheltenham Racecourse
  6. Bibury duck races on Boxing day or turn out for the hunt which heads down the High Street in Broadway
  7. Christmas day swim at Cheltenham lido
  8. See Santa at Slimbridge (and a host of other venues throughout the Cotswolds)
  9. Christmas carols and market at Gloucester cathedral
  10. Visit a farm shop for locally grown produce and support independent shops
  11. Check out the floating Christmas tree at Bourton on the water
  12. Rent a cottage for a weekend and cosy down with family
  13. Visit Batsford Arboretum for a walk amongst the trees, then pick up a handmade festive gift
  14. Blenheim Palace light trail or Sudeley Castle Spectacle of Light
  15. Enjoy stories with Santa on a barge at Gloucester Waterways Museum
  16. Go for a winter walk – do a section of the Cotswold Way, start or finish at one of the independent local pubs for food and drinks
  17. See a Christmas light switch on
  18. Join in Santa fun run in aid of Acorns children’s hospice
  19. Sign up for a wreath making workshop – lots of locations all throughout the Cotswolds
  20. Enjoy live music at lots of local pubs and restaurants
