Trends for autumn interior design
As the evenings get darker and the clocks are due to go back at the end of October, we’ve done a roundup of all the best interior design tips for the autumnal season.
Considering a colour change?
Take a look at some bold colours including deep dusky blues, greens and even jewel shades such as purple. Pair with pastels, pink is still a particularly popular colour.
Neutral shades still suit a range of building and lifestyle choices, oyster with undertones of pink works well with a variety of other styles, even if pairing with a strong pattern such as palm tree or natural tartan.
As with kitchen trends leaning towards black or incredibly dark, furniture is now included in the ‘dark trend’. Expect black dining chairs and tables, coffee tables and sofa frames.
If you’re looking to step away from wooden or wood effect finishes, faux shagreen is an option to consider with both texture and pattern. It has long been a staple of the interior designer’s book but this season makes a prominent return from the art deco era.
All the fabrics
Choose textiles that have similar patterns and layer rugs on the floor or multiple throws across furniture. Don’t clash patterns and velvet is still a good choice for any cushion or upholstery.
Luxurious hints of metallic
The gold trend has slowed down a little and more subtle embellishment is more popular, with gold, brass or copper is emerging. This could be through accessories, particularly those of an unusual shape that will be sure to attract attention.
